Biography
Andrew Kim is a Vancouver based children’s entertainer, ethnic multi-instrumentalist and instrument inventor with over 25 years of experience studying music from various cultures. Best known as the sitar player for the popular band Delhi 2 Dublin, he has toured the world and has performed for the prime minister, mayor, and British royal couple. He represented Canada as a musical ambassador to China, performing in the Forbidden City, and appearing on the front page of the Beijing Times. He has also appeared on BBC, and MTV India.

As a children’s entertainer, Andrew has performed for hundreds of schools through Artstarts with Delhi 2 Dublin, Dharmakasa, Dumpsta Dragons, and various African bands. He has performed at the Vancouver Children’s Festival, Surrey Childrens Festival, Jam Camp, Vancouver Folkfest (twice), as well as an album by Raffi.

As Andy the Musical Scientist, he is now branching out as a solo performer, having created his own unique inventions, the Moroccan hockey stick, Persian paddle, African skateboard, Singing spoon, and various others. He has performed on these instruments numerous times for CBC (including 2 documentaries), and now brings these amazing inventions to BC schools

Andrew studied classical sitar on a scholarship in India, and has received the Royal Conservatory of Music silver medal, and Western Canadian Music Award. He also learned much about African music and culture from touring with numerous African bands. He has performed with, or opened for many respected musicians including: Ziggy Marley, Michael Franti, and Anoushka Shankar (Ravi Shankar’s daughter).
