Attend Baby Goose and grow the roots of a lifelong love of language while bonding with your baby through the power of song, rhymes and stories. Babytime offers children 0-18 months an opportunity to:

  • Participate in the joyful sharing of stories, fingerplays, action rhymes and songs. This stimulates the imagination and builds motor, visual and auditory skills.
  • Facilitate language learning through increased exposure to the sounds, rhythms and patterns of language.
  • Connect with caregivers through songs, rhymes and play to enhance adult-child bonding.
  • Borrow age-appropriate books featuring bold illustrations and chunky pages that are easy for little fingers to grasp.
  • Have Fun! Introducing children to the joy of language and books in a safe, supportive and fun environment ensures they associate talking and reading with enjoyment. When children grow up enjoying language and books, they are more likely to become strong readers and better learners.

Children’s brain development is especially tuned into language acquisition during the first three years of life. Children who are talked to, sung to and read to by their caregivers exhibit language skills greater than children receiving little verbal stimulation. One of the easiest ways you can help your child succeed at school and in life is to read to them from birth. Try to find a quiet time every day to sit down and read, sing and rhyme with your baby.

The library can provide you with many wonderful stories to share. We also have a wide range of parenting resources with information about preparing for and learning to talk and read.
