Locavore Book Club
This book club delves into the whys and hows of local sustainable food on the 2nd or 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7pm in the library. Each month the club chooses a non-fiction locavore book to read and discuss.
Anyone can join and you are welcome to enjoy the books and Facebook group even if you are unable to attend the meetings at the library!
In the 2017-18 series our theme is INSPIRATION as we look at various topics pertaining to eating locally. We are looking a more than one book each month and discussing what inspires us. We have also added a Facebook group to share online resources and for discussion.
Previous years’ topics were: For the 2014-15 session we read many books on the topic of locavorism; for 2015-16 we focused more on specific hands-on topics for food preservation and we partnered with the Creston Valley Food Action Coalition for their speaker series on coordinated topics. The 2016-17 series focused on methods of increasing food production at home.
