Beginning May 1, 2018, the library will adjust its opening hours as follows:

Tuesday: 10:00am-7:00pm (currently close at 6:00pm)
Wednesday: 10:00am-6:00pm
Thursday: 10:00am-6:00pm
Friday: 10:00am-6:00pm (currently close at 7:00pm)
Saturday: 10:00am-4:00pm

FAQ:

Why the change?
Gate count statistics over the past 2 years show that Tuesdays are busier than Fridays, likely due to the closures on Sunday/Monday. We believe that opening later on Tuesday will allow more people to access the library.

Can you open Mondays/Sundays/more evenings?
No. We applied for additional funding from the Creston Valley Services Committee to open additional hours, but the request was turned down. We cannot afford to open additional hours.

Other libraries in BC are open more hours. Why not Creston?
Operating funding for libraries is primarily a local government responsibility. Overall, Creston has one of the lowest levels of local government operating support among BC public libraries.

• There are 32 library associations or library systems serving a population of over 10,000 people in BC. Among these, Creston ranks 31st in per capita local government funding.
• There are 247 public library branches or service points in BC. Among these, Creston ranks 239th in per capita local government funding.
