Lysistrata – Free Play Reading

2023/06/14 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

There’s a saying that if women ruled the world, there would be no war. This play explores that! As relevant today as it was 3000 years ago!  Come explore and laugh with us!

Lysistrata is an ancient Greek comedy by Aristophanes, originally performed in classical Athens in 411BC.  It is a comic account of a woman’s extraordinary mission to end the Peloponnesian War between Greek city states by denying all the men of the land any sex, which was the only thing they truly and deeply desired.

These play readings are an opportunity to participate in the fun of theatre without the pressure of memorizing lines and being on stage.  A great way to get the feel for it, all are welcome to attend, both to read with us or just to watch and listen – and laugh!

Access to meeting room around the back of the library.
